High School Musical stars reunite for a lifetime Christmas movie

The stars of the original High School Musical franchise, Monique Coleman and Corbin Bleu, reunite in a new Christmas movie for life, A Christmas Dance Reunion.

A new trailer for the Lifetime Christmas movie is shown High school musical stars who reunite 13 years after the conclusion of the original film trilogy. High school musical, under the direction of Kenny Ortega of Julie and the ghosts, first premiered as a Disney Channel Original Movie in 2006. It quickly became the most successful DCOM produced by Disney and was followed by High School Musical 2 in 2007 and High School Musical: Senior Year in 2008 with a theatrical release. Since the original films, the High school musical the franchise has included a spin-off film, a concert tour, a musical adapted from the film, and most recently, a Disney + spin-off series titled High School Musical: The Musical-The series.


The films are set in the fictional East High of Albuquerque, New Mexico and follow six students as they maneuver through high school and break the status quo by challenging their cliques. In the original High school musical, a love story between Romeo and Juliet develops between basketball star Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and the brilliant new Gabriella Montes (Vanessa Hudgens). The two share a talent and interest in singing and rehearse for the spring musical. This is revealed to the dismay of their friends, Chad Danforth (Corbin Bleu) and Taylor McKessie (Monique Coleman), and theater program favorites, the Sharpay brothers (Ashley Tisdale) and Ryan Evans (Lucas Gabriel). Chad and Taylor become a secondary couple at the end of the first film, remaining together for the rest of the films.

As the holiday season approaches, Lifetime released the trailer for A Christmas dance meeting, which features a meeting between High school musical pupils Coleman and Bleu. The two met on High school musical set and previously reunited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Disney Channel movies, but have not had any projects together since. High school music. A Christmas dance meeting follows Lucy Mortimer (Coleman), a successful lawyer, as she returns to her hometown to celebrate one last Christmas at a local resort before it closes its doors. Lucy unexpectedly meets the resort owner’s nephew, Barret Brewster (Bleu). The two danced together in high school and decide to join forces to host one last Christmas dance at the resort to bring the city together and perhaps even save the venue from closing. Together, they must decide if they are ready to take a risk with love.

Coleman and Bleu are certainly not the first of the HSM franchise to delight in the territory of Christmas films. Hudgens has starred in three Netflix Christmas movies with the fourth on the way The Princess Switch 3 movie. The trailer for A Christmas dance meeting immediately evokes nostalgia for High school musical fan. The duo had minor roles in High school music, like this their relationship suffered from unexplored chemistry and ultimately left a lot to be desired. With this film there is also an undeniable similarity between the premise and the characters of the A Christmas dance meeting with them High school musical counterparts, which are sure to make any longtime fan’s heart swoon.
