The Indian cricket team will play the last match of the 2021 T20 World Cup, today, November 8, against Namibia. Former Indian cricketer and now commentator Sanjay Manjrekar believes Virat Kohli should hand over the captaincy to Rohit Sharma as the Men in Blue are already eliminated from the tournament.

Current T20 captain of the Indian cricket team Virat Kohli previously announced that he would step down as captain of India’s T20 after the 2021 T20 World Cup. This will also mark the end of the current coaching setup .

There are a few hours left for the India vs Namibia match, which is the last match of the Super 12 round, to start, and before that, Sanjay Manjrekar made a bold statement.

Former Indian cricketer, who represented India between 1987 and 1996, and now current commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar, in a video uploaded to his Instagram account, believes Virat Kohli should give the captain to Rohit Sharma for the game of Namibia.

He said that if Virat Kohli wants to start a new trend of an inevitable future in T20 cricket, he should offer Rohit Sharma leadership for the Namibian match right away.

With Virat Kohli stepping down, Rohit Sharma is clearly the favorite to become India’s next T20 captain. However, this will only be decided after new Head Coach Rahul Dravid takes over from outgoing Ravi Shastri.

In the same video, Manjrekar also said India should bring Bhuvneshwar Kumar back for the Namibia match to prove it. While he also stated that Ishan Kishan and Rahul Chahar should also have a chance.
