Former Indian cricketer and veteran batsman Sunil Gavaskar has chosen his favorite team to raise the T20 World Cup 2021 Trophy, with the Grand Finale that will be the protagonist tonight, November 14th, in Dubai.
The cricket level of cricket’s shortest format, T20 cricket, is at its peak with the 2021 T20 World Cup final being held tonight on November 14, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
And before the top clash between the two finalists, Australia and New Zealand begins, former Indian cricketer and veteran hitter Sunil Gavaskar has chosen his favorite team to lift the trophy between the two teams.
Sunil Gavaskar chooses his favorite to win the 2021 T20 World Cup
Sunil Gavaskar, during a live show on Sports Today, said he was in favor of Australia for winning the 2021 T20 World Cup in the Trans-Tasman final against New Zealand.
Sunil Gavaskar said Australia’s record in knockout matches gives them the upper hand against New Zealand in the 2021 T20 World Cup final.

Australia and New Zealand have met 18 times before in any ICC tournament, where the Australian team have won 12 of those games. In terms of Australia’s record in knockout matches, the Australians have played 31 knockout matches in any ICC event, of which the Australians have won 20, including the Cricket World Cup 50’s win 5 times and the Champions Trophy twice.
Sunil Gavaskar said the higher records definitely give Australia an advantage over New Zealand. He continued that Australia had momentum in the match, not just against New Zealand but against every team, Australia have an incredible record in knockout matches.
He also talked about how crucial Devon Conway’s injury is for New Zealand, who got injured out of frustration against England. Gavaskar said if Conway had been fit, he would have said 50-50, but not being there and a new hitter coming is not good for New Zealand.
Trans-Tasmanian neighbors will not meet for the first time in any World Cup final. Both teams have already met in a final in 2015 during the 50 over Cricket World Cup, which was held in Australia. And it was Kangaroos, who got the better of the kiwis, and that in itself makes it a great battle between the team.
While New Zealand will be looking to dethrone the Australians, the Australians will also be looking to repeat the 2015 Cricket World Cup final.
Australia and New Zealand in the World Cup events
As previously mentioned, the Australian team, which is a force to be reckoned with, have won multiple ICC trophies, including winning the 50 over World Cup 5 times. But it is the T20 World Cup, which the Australians have played to claim.
While for the kiwis, they failed to win any World Cup events. They had reached the 50 over World Cup finals in 2015 and 2019, but failed to lift the Trophy, and it was Australia and England that got the better of them.
