The free Resident Evil Village DLC may be separate from the expansion

Capcom’s annual report for 2021 reveals plans are in place for Resident Evil Village to receive free DLC, presumably separate from the expansion.

An annual report for 2021 notes that Capcom aims to provide free DLC for titles such as Resident Evil Village. Presumably, such a release would have no impact on RE Village’s the previously announced DLC expansion, which the publisher teased several months ago during E3. Since the content had just entered development at the time of E3’s unveiling, Capcom had nothing to say about what gamers should expect.

A sequel to the acclaimed Resident Evil 7 which effectively revitalized the groundbreaking horror series, RE Village once again left the players in the role of Ethan Winters. The sequel puts Ethan in a dire situation where he must risk his life and limbs, literally, to save what’s left of his family. Of course, the world around him doesn’t make things easy, with werewolves, vampire creatures, and ancient evils constantly breathing down his neck. And players want more, especially if the evil Lady Dimitrescu is involved in any way, shape or form. (Even if that means the return of its grotesquely monstrous form.)

The Development Strategy section of its latest annual report mentions briefly Capcomintention to release “Free additional DLC“for types of Resident Evil Village And The rise of the monster hunters. What the giveaways may entail is not yet known, as the publisher’s report offers nothing specific. At the very least, however, it seems safe to assume that the newly teased free DLC will be released separately from the expansion announced earlier this summer.

Resident Evil Village Lady Dimitrescu

Which Capcom aims to expand further Resident Evil Village offering content with free DLC seems like a smart move. This particular entry is already an overwhelming success, with RE Village managing to move 4.5 million units after about two months on the market. Capcom’s latest update on the matter points to a total of five million sales, which means the sequel is even surpassing sales. Resident Evil 2 Remake.

In terms of what the freebies can include, smaller extras like new game modes, additional weapons, and other items don’t seem beyond the realm of possibility. Mercenaries mode also looks ripe for free content; Capcom could add more levels, increase the difficulty, or even introduce enemies from the past Resident Evil titles to further step up the challenge. For now, there’s no telling what the publisher might have up his sleeve in this regard.
