India finally opened their account in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup standings by defeating the Afghan cricket team last night at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium. The Indian cricket team suffered losses to the Pakistan cricket team and the New Zealand cricket team in their first two games.
Fans were confident in the chances of the Indian cricket team after recording victories against the Australian cricket team and the English cricket team in warm-up matches. History also favored the Men in Blue when they took the field against the Pakistan cricket team in Dubai. However, the Men in Green ended their losing streak by defeating India’s ten-wicket cricket team at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
A week later, the Indian cricket team took to the field again to fight the New Zealand cricket team. India had never beaten the Blackcaps before in the history of the ICC T20 World Cup. However, hopes were high as the Men in Blue performed well in matches after suffering a defeat in the opening match. Unfortunately, this was not repeated and India lost to New Zealand by eight wickets in Dubai.
India’s semi-final chances now depend on Afghanistan
Finally, the Indian cricket team opened their account by defeating Afghanistan by 65 points. Now, Indian fans are hoping Afghanistan will get the better of New Zealand when they meet on November 7th. Also, India beat Scotland and Namibia by big margins, which is really possible. Here is the semi-final scenario obtainable for the Indian cricket team:
The most feasible scenario for #India qualifying for the semifinal of the world cup means winning both games (assuming you beat first) by at least 60 points each and hoping #Afghanistan hit #New Zeland by a very small margin. # ICCT20World Cup
