The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly spoke on the possibility of a resumption of the bilateral series between India and Pakistan.
The two neighbors, the arch rivals in cricket, haven’t met in a bilateral series in quite some time. The last time these 2 countries played a bilateral series was during the 2012-2013 season.
This has not been the case all along, as India and Pakistan used to reproduce some bilateral streak a few years earlier. But the scenario has changed considerably due to political issues between nations.
Nowadays, India and Pakistan only meet in multi-team tournaments, such as the ICC World Cup or Asia Cup events.
Sourav Ganguly opens up on the India Pakistan bilateral series
Speaking about whether there is any chance of a resumption of the bilateral streak between India and Pakistan, BCCI chairman Sourav Ganguly said it is not in the hands of the cricket tables.
Sourav Ganguly "This is not in the hands of the boards (bilateral series between India vs Pakistan). Bilateral Cricket has been stopped for years and this is something the respective governments need to work on. This is not in Ramiz’s hands, nor in mine"

The teams only meet in world tournaments and it is the government of both countries that needs to work on this for the bilateral series of India and Pakistan, Sourav Ganguly said at the 40th Sharjah International Book Fair on November 13.
Speaking likewise, Pakistan Cricket Board President Ramiz Raja said it is impossible for India and Pakistan to play any bilateral series at this time. He continued that the sport has been marred by politics and intends to focus more on their home cricket rather than engaging in the India vs Pakistan bilateral series.
India and Pakistan at the 2021 T20 World Cup
India and Pakistan met recently in T20 World Cup 2021, on October 24, where the Men in Green first defeated India in a World Cup event, and again by a whopping 10 wicket margin, chasing India’s goal of 152 points.
While India failed to reach the semi-finals of the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistan qualified as group leaders but crashed into Australia in the semi-finals. Australia will face New Zealand in the 2021 T20 World Cup final on Sunday 14 November.
